Developed by Rabbit & Bear Studios and published by 505 Games, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a new turn-based JRPG released on 23rd April 2024 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the sequel to Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising and the spiritual successor to Suikoden, a series of role-playing video games first created by the late Yoshitaka Murayama in 1995. As someone who has played Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes without having played Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising beforehand, I didn't face any difficulty learning the game's mechanics and immersing myself in its world despite not having any previous knowledge of its lore.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes features a compelling storyline, great graphics and a gameplay approach reminiscent of the old-school RPGs from the '90s.

The protagonist and his companions possess an array of skills, both physical and magical, with the possibility of further customization once the characters level up.

On top of the fights happening during the course of the main storyline, various enemies can also be randomly met and fought while the player is out exploring the world.

The main team includes up to six active characters (including the player), but, as the title of the game suggests, there are actually over 100 characters that you can recruit during your playthrough: their interesting personalities and moving backstories greatly contribute to making the world of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes feel lively and varied.

With a fun battle system, an emotional storyline, extremely likable characters and brilliant English voice acting, the love that the developers put into making this game really shows, as Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes reminds us why the classic RPG genre is so beloved by many.
